The ONE PIECE Shinkansen is JR West's 8-car 700 Series bullet train covered in Straw Hat artwork inside and out. It runs as a Kodama (the all-stops service) on the Sanyo Shinkansen between Shin-Osaka, Okayama, Hiroshima and Hakata (Fukuoka).

At a glance

Three designs: "Setouchi Blue", "Tony Tony Chopper" and "Monkey D. Luffy". Which one shows up is random
Onboard: a special "We Are!" chime, plus announcements by Luffy (Mayumi Tanaka) or Chopper (Ikue Tanaka) at some stations
Oct 1, 2026 – Jan 12, 2027 (almost daily): Kodama 936, 945, 958 and 967 between Shin-Osaka and Hakata
Jan 13 – Feb 2027 (most days): Kodama 935 (Okayama → Hakata) and 950 (Hakata → Okayama)
Tickets: a normal Shinkansen ticket with no extra fee. JR West rail passes work too

How to ride it (quick version)

Pick the train number. Until Jan 12 it runs daily as Kodama 945 (Shin-Osaka 9:32 → Hiroshima 12:08 → Hakata 13:51) and 958 (Hakata 14:54 → Hiroshima 16:38 → Shin-Osaka 19:25). Kodama 936 runs early morning and 967 in the evening. Other Kodama trains are plain, so the number matters
Buy a normal Shinkansen ticket for that train at a JR ticket machine (English button), the ticket office, or online (e5489 / SMART EX). It has no extra One Piece fee. Japan Rail Pass and JR West passes are valid
Go through the blue Shinkansen gates with all your tickets, find こだま / Kodama 945 on the departure board, and stand at your car (自由席 = non-reserved)
Board and enjoy. The design you get is random, so listen for the "We Are!" chime
